The Mystique Community Ice Center was the recipient of a $1,000,000 Future Fund grant to assist in building a 45,000 sq. ft., 500 seat dedicated ice arena. This project soon expanded to 66,000 sq. ft. with seating for 3,200 to accommodate the needs of the Dubuque Fighting Saints, a USHL hockey team. Mystique Casino contributed an additional $390,000 to expand the parking and light the existing ball field lot.

The Mystique Community Ice Center opened in September 2010 and has, in addition to the Saints, hosted both the Iowa and Illinois Winter Special Olympics, and the Iowa Winter Games. The year-around nature of the facility allows for public skating, youth hockey, adult hockey, figure skating, broomball, learn-to-skate and special events. Although the facility bears the name Mystique, the facility ownership was turned over to the City of Dubuque and is under the management of Dubuque Community Ice & Recreation, Inc.
